About Acupuncture
The science of acupuncture and moxibustion is an important component of traditional Chinese
medicine (TCM) used in the prevention and treatment diseases. This therapy has been accepted by
the general population for thousands of years. It has been said that Tai Hao , Fu Yi and Huang Di
(Yellow Emperor found the stone need puncture and moxbustion techniques. They have been
improved by ancient TCM practitioners years by years. Acupuncture technique was imported into
Baiji and Xinluo (two countries of ancient Korea) in 540 and Japan in 500 from Liang Dynasty of
Ancient China.
The meridian theory, the basic knowledge of introducing acupuncture treatment, is thought that it
was concluded from the long time clinic experiences by the TCM practitioners. But it has been said
that there are some high cultivated practitioners or masters could see the pathways of fourteen
main meridians by their magical eyes.
The basic theory of treating diseases with traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture need to
accord to Yin and Yang, Zang and fu organs, qi (energy), Xue (blood) and body fluid, meridians and
collaterals, and acupoint theory. Usually the effect of treatment by a non-well trained acupuncturist
is much less than a well trained practitioner. If one patient gets a conclusion of not usefulness for
acupuncture treatment because of accepting a treatment from a not well trained or less experienced
acupuncturist(s), it is absolutely ridiculous.
Acupuncture and moxibustion could be used individually and together. There are more changes to
use acupuncture independently.
According to the area of puncture selected by the practitioners, acupuncture could be divided into
Tradition meridian acupuncture, skin acupuncture, abdominal acupuncture, auricular acupuncture
and scalp acupuncture.
Tradition meridian acupuncture: trained practitioners treating diseases according to the TCM
fourteen main meridian theory is called Tradition meridian acupuncture. It is a most popular method
of acupuncture. A qualified acupuncturist usually need a over three-year training for obtaining basic
knowledge from acupuncture or TCM college or traditional Chinese Medical school. It is easy to
obtain relative information and references from book stores. The practitioners need more practise
to get well experiences
Acupuncture with shin needles, plum-blossom or coetaneous needling is called skin-acupuncture.
It could be used for hypertension, alopecia, different pain syndromes and skin diseases. The area of
shin-acupuncture could be chosen on fourteen meridians or local area according to the practitioners’
experiences.
Abdominal acupuncture is used needles on abdominal area according to human holography
theory. It could be used for different diseases. But there are limited reference books and reference
book, patients are less changes to find the practitioners pure use this skill.
Auricular Acupuncture is also called Auricular (Ear) medicine. There are three main systems of the
techniques: Chinese National systems, Nogier Phase Points (France) and Huang Li Chun’s System
(China). Huang Li-Chun’s system could be used for diagnosis for the most diseases of human body.
It is very easy to learn and understand for the practitioners with general medical knowledge. It is
also very effect to some of pain syndromes. Because of using seed-tape pressure on point for
treatment, it is much easier to be accepted by the patients.
Scalp Acupuncture Including:
Scalp Acupuncture (International): is the method of using needles on scalp according to “scalp
nomenclature” China Association of Acupuncture designed <Standard Nomenclature of Chinese
Scalp Acupuncture Lines> 1983. This Nomenclature was confirmed by the international Meeting of
World Health Organization (WHO) 1989 and introduced to the Acupuncturists of the whole world. It
is generally thought that this Nomenclature is good for sequela of cerbrovascular accident..
Fang’s Scalp Acupuncture is method of using needles according to the systemic theory found by
Doctor Yun Peng Fang (China) and developed by his descendant Master Ben Zheng Fang. Fang’s
scalp nomenclature was published in 1970. Because Dr. Fang found Ti Huan (Body Circular)
Acupuncture, another qi (energy) and blood circulation system different with fourteen main
meridians, and hand holography and food holography acupuncture system, they are totally called
fang’s acupuncture. This system could be used for the all diseases covered by traditional
acupuncture, it could also be used for many diseases not covered by the traditional acupuncture
even herbal medicine. There are some of the principle reference books for fang’s acupuncture such
as “scalp acupuncture”, “hand and foot holography acupuncture”, “Body Circular (Ti Huan)
acupuncture” and “Fang’s micro-acupuncture”. Because fang’s system integrated some areas not
covered by traditional Chinese Medicine theory, its effects are hard to be compared and competed
by traditional acupuncture. Unfortunately, it is not easy to understand the system very well.
Because the system needs to be explained by fang’s descendant in detail, there are not much TCM
practitioners learning the system from Fang’s descendant directly. But due to the excellent clinic
effects, this system should be paid more attention by other practitioners and patients.
