INGREDIENTS:
Hong Shen (Ren Shen-Ginseng) 35g
Huang Qi (Astragalus root) 15g
Dang Gui (Chinese angelicat root) 9g
Xu Duan (Dipsacus root) 6g
Huang Qin (Scutellaria root) 6g
Bai Zhu (Bighead atractylodes rhizome) 9g
Chuan Xiong (Chuanxiong rhizone) 5g
Bai Shao (White peony root) 6g
Shu Di Huang (Prepared rehmannia root) 9g
Sha Ren (Amomum fruit) 5g
Hi Gan CAI (Roasted licorice root) 5g
Glutinous rice 5g
DIRECTIONS: Decoct all above herbs in water for oral administration.
EFFECTS: Replenishing qi, strengthening the spleen and nourishing the blood to soothe fetus.
INDICATIONS: Continual foetal perturbation due to deficiency of both qi and the blood marked by pallor, lassitude, loss of
appetite, pale tongue with thin white coating, forceless floating and rolling pulse of deep and weak pulse.
ANALYSIS OF FORMULA:
This formula is Ten Strong Tonic Herbs Decoction minus Rou Gui (cinnamon bark), Fu Ling (poria), but plus Xu Duan
(dipsacus root), Huang Qin (scutellaria amomum fruit) and glutinous rice. Because Rou Gui is pungent in flavor and hot in
property, it is able to warm and drive blood circulation. Fu Ling (Poria) has effects of diuresis and excreting dampness. Both
of them are harmful to fetus, thus omitted.
Of all the ingredients, Ren (Hong) Shen (ginseng), HUang Qi (astragalus root), Bai Zhu (bighead atractylodes rhizome) and Gan
Cao (licorice) invigorate the middle and replenish qi; Shu Di Huang (prepared rehmannia root), Dang Gui (Chinese angelica
root), Bai Shao (white peony root) and Xu Duan (dipsacus root), tonify the essence and blood, nourish the liver and kidney to
enrich the Chong and Ren Meridians and to protect the fetus; scutellaria clears heat to soothe fetus,Sha Ren (amomum fruit)  
regulates qi to soothe fetus; combination of Chuan Xiong (chuanxiong rhizome) and herbs to tonify the blood has effect of
regulating the vital energy within the blood; glutinous rice nourishes the spleen and stomach. Thus, this formula is effective for
replenishing qi, strengthening the spleen, nourishing the liver and kidney, enrichinng Chong and Ren Meridians to soothe fetus.
