.  Huang Qi Jian Zhong Tang (Astragalus Middle-Strengthening Decoction
SOURCE: Jin Gui Yao Lue (Synopsis of the Golden Chamber) :      
INGREDIENTS:  9 gram of Huang Qi (astragalus root) is added to Xiao Jian Zhong Tang (minor middle
Strengthening Decoction). The directions are the same as that of Minor Middle Strengthening Decoction.
Effects: Warming the middle and reinforcing qi to harmonize the interior and to relieve spasm.
Indications: All the deficient manifestations due to consumption with abdominal pain and spasm.


NOTES: Huang Qi JIan Zhong Tang (Astragalus Middle Strengthening Decoction) is applied to all deficiencies which
are more serious than those indicated by Xiao Jian Zhong Tang (Minor Middle Strengthening Decoction). Huang Qi
(Astragalus root) is used to strengthen the effect on reinforcing qi and tonifying deficiency. While Dang Gui Jian Zhong
Tang ( (Chinese Angelica Middle-Strengthening Decoction) stresses on nourishing and harmonizing blood, it is suitable
to abdominal pain after delivery due to the internal deficiency of the nutrient qi.
