Herbs to be described in this section are bitter in flavour and cold in property. Their major function is to clear heat and remove
dampness and most of them act as purging dampness and detoxicating drugs simultaneously. They are mainly indicated for
dysentery and jaundice due to damp-heat pathogens, eczema, conjunctival congestion, sore throat, and superficial suppurative
infections caused by heat of excess type and noxious heat.
Herbs  with the properties of bitter flavour dryness and coldness are likely to cause damage of Yin and stomach. So they
